OPEN DAY AT WAMBERAL PUBLIC SCHOOL
2P loved sharing their learning environment with family members on Thursday 2nd August, 2012 during Open Day, Education Week at Wamberal Public School. Some families were unable to be represented on the day and we hope to involve them at a later date. The children proudly showed their achievements in classroom displays, book and stencil work. They enjoyed explaining/demonstrating a variety of Literacy and Numeracy activities set up as group work in the Wet Area, at the computers and on the smartboard. An enthusiastic response from both participants and audience was evident when the children gave an impromptu performance of "Old McDonald Had Some Land", a variation of the well-known traditional song, accompanied by djembie drumming in the chorus. Family members were also invited to join the fun and try their hand at this expressive skill and we thank the Fish family, not only for increasing our class numbers with their lovely twins, but also for the loan of their impressive djembie drums which dwarfed Mrs Parker's pair. A lovely morning was had by all, including the young Kings who tried out the "big seats" to get a feel of things to come. Mrs Parker and Mrs Crawley, (busy in another classroom), congratulate the children and thank the parents for their interest and enthusiasm in educational experiences at Wamberal Public School. Check out some great work that is happening in 2F.
A big congratulations to Jessica Maiden-Ross in 2R for winning the Hunter/Central Coast Premier Public Speaking Competition at Zone Level yesterday. Believe it or not, this is Jessica's second time winning this competition, in Kindergarten she beat students from across the Central Coast. Well done Jessica, this is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of you here at Wamberal Public School. We wish you well as you go onto compete at the next component of this competition. Each Friday students have had the chance to work with all different types of sports equipment to improve their skills, strength and have FUN! Click on the picture to see a slideshow of all the FUN we have been having in Stage 1. The Athletics Carnival is scheduled for next week, Wednesday 13th at Mingara Athletics Complex. Notes went home last week and we are asking for these notes to come in as soon as possible.
For Year two students this is their first athletics carnival and it can be very daunting. Students should not be worried as they are encouraged to participate in all activities if they feel comfortable and are allowed to watch others throughout the day if they do not want to participate. |
