On Wednesday, 12th September, eleven girls from stage 3 travelled to Morry Breen Oval, Kanwal, to compete in the Fifth Annual Central Coast Primary Schools Oz Tag Carnival.
The girls played their best against schools from across the Central Coast. The girls were well drilled and displayed great team chemistry throughout the three pool games, winning all the pool games convincingly. After a hot and tiring day the girls played the quarter, semi final beating both teams. The girls then advanced to the final against a strong Our Lady of the Rosary the Entrance School. After a long day and with only 2 subs the girls started the final slowly, falling behind 2-0 early in the game. The entire game was close with great team work and they came together to score the next four tries. With a few minutes to play OLR the Entrance scored one more try to leave the score at 4-3. With a loud and excited Wamberal cheer team we were able to push our girls over the line. The girls received medals at the presentation and were named the Central Coast Primary Schools Oz Tag CHAMPIONS. Congratulation also goes to Samara Watson after being named MVP of the day by the carnival organisers.
All eleven girls played with great enthusiasm on the day. Congratulations on a great display of sportsmanship, you are all great representatives of our school.
Thank you to the parent volunteers who helped on the day with providing transport and coaching, your help made the day enjoyable and we all appreciate the time you took out of your day to make this a fun day for all involved. A special mention goes to Julie Foster and Margie Symington who put in many hours before school to help train the girls and to pass on their expertise to our young talents.
