Softball teams have been selected after several trials and the girls played on Friday 8/3 and the boys on Monday 11/3. Boys cricket is due to play on Tuesday 12/3 with 7-a-side League due to play on the 22/3. Individual reports will be posted in due course.
Chelsea, Hayden and Evie were successful at the Zone basketball trials last week, well done and good luck for the next trial. School trials are to be held soon for girls cricket, basketball and rugby league. All interested students should ask the teachers involved an Stage 3 have now settled into their classes and routines for 2013.
The current focus of Stage 3 is on taking responsibility for their own behaviour and actions and recognising that every choice we make has a consequence that can not only affect ourselves but others. Students are encouraged to make appropriate choices as they move into the middle years of schooling. We have already noticed students taking on this responsibility and showing appropriate decisions for the younger students to follow. It is all part of being the leaders of the school. The other area we are focusing on is giving things a go. Students in Stage 3 have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of extra curricula activities. It is up to them to listen at assemblies, turn up to meetings or trials and put themselves forward. Not all students will be chosen but just trying out is an achievement. You never know if you don't give it a go! All the best for 2013. Welcome to 2013 everyone, 5/6J have been looking at Aboriginal Bark painting during our HSIE unit "Whale Dreaming". We have discussed artists such as Johnny Bulunbulun and the different types of paintings. This week the students have completed an artwork inspired by these Aboriginal bark paintings in the style often labelled "xray paintings", as they only use an outline. 5/6J used oil pastels, black paint and then etched their designs using the tip of a paintbrush. What awesome results. "When you are waiting up at the top, you get a giant wedgy and then you drop for about 3 seconds and your belly drops....and it's FUN!!" (Noah) "The giant swing was so fun because when you pulled the rope you went flying through the sky....it was so scary!" (Lissi) "GIANT SWING.... was sssssoooo much fun " (Niamh) "It was everyones favourite" (Charlotte) |
